Vote For Jet Aviation in the Yacht & Aviation Awards 2022

Completions, Europe

Voting opens today for the Yacht & Aviation Awards 2022.

The Jet Aviation Design Studio has been shortlisted in the Private Jet Concept category. The ‘Mink’ concept draws on current customer trends and integrates them into a modern, open-plan design with striking repeated geometric motifs.

This open plan cabin has really considered how a guest might move through the space, with the living and dining spaces complemented by a fully-designed open galley completed in the same style as the rest of the cabin. This collaboration between form and function is something that has been considered throughout the cabin. Beautiful design has been conceived with VVIP passengers – and their evolving requirements – in mind.

One of the considerations was to look at how to incorporate more sustainable elements into an VVIP cabin design. An experimentation with material and form allows these pieces and practices to permeate the design, such as the table marble marquetry which could potentially make use of stone offcuts; natural fibers used throughout the cabin; Nuo flexible wood which enables an easier way to integrate wood, and the use of water-based paint to bring in contrast but to also reduce the use of wood; and innovative textiles such as a non-textile flooring produced from recycled materials, and largely manufactured with fossil fuel free techniques.

“We have spent a lot of time considering the needs of the passengers of today and tomorrow, and explored how we can meet these through innovative design, materials and functionality.”

How passengers interact with the environment was also a key priority throughout the concept. Color and design motifs are repeated throughout, evolving through the space to provide both consistency and creativity, constantly surprising the occupants while remaining extremely comfortable. The design develops and evolves in different rooms, with complementary explorations of shape, tone and materials bringing a new visual element to each room experience.

"I'm very proud of what the team have achieved in this concept,” says Grischa Schmidt, Senior Director Design. “We have spent a lot of time considering the needs of the passengers of today and tomorrow, and explored how we can meet these through innovative design, materials and functionality. The result is a striking, forward-thinking concept which showcases our capabilities across all parts of the completion process. The Yacht & Aviation Awards are a fantastic showcase for this kind of work, judged by a panel of our industry peers – and of course, our colleagues. Please show the team your support by voting for them today!"
