In Conversation with Siobhan Doherty, Senior Manager & GM Jet Aviation Miami

We recently spoke with Siobhan about the opportunities and ambitions that lie ahead as Jet Aviation embarks on an exciting new chapter at Miami-Opa Locka.

Siobhan Doherty was appointed to the role of Senior Manager and GM of Jet Aviation Miami-Opa Locka in June 2025. Siobhan brought more than six years of FBO leadership experience when she joined, including four years as General Manager at a facility in Houston and two years managing operations at an FBO in Miami-Opa Locka.

Bringing extensive experience across a range of roles, including sales, business development and FBO relations, Siobhan brought her deep understanding of daily operations, safety and compliance standards, customer service, and employee engagement to the forefront of our Miami-Opa Locka operations.

We recently sat down with Siobhan to learn more about what she looks forward to most at Jet Aviation Miami-Opa Locka.

Can you describe your role as General Manager and what that looks like today?

My primary role as General Manager of Jet Aviation Miami-Opa Locka involves overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day operation, ensuring we deliver high standards of service, safety, and operational excellence.

Today, my primary focus includes leading the team here, creating a positive work culture, and building strong relationships with our customers. The team prioritizes upholding Jet Aviation’s reputation for safety and service excellence, and together, we maintain our brand standards, adapting to the service needs of the Miami-Opa Locka market.

What makes the Miami-Opa Locka business aviation community unique, and what excites you about operating at this location?

What I love most about Jet Aviation Miami-Opa Locka is the history, vibrancy, and diversity of this location. I am particularly appreciative of the history of Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport. The lands was originally purchased in the 1920s by Glenn Curtiss and later transferred to the city of Miami, and since then, it has evolved and expanded. What stands out the most is how it has transformed into what it is today. It is dynamic, with a blend of international travelers and top business leaders based in Miami.

We are eager to succeed and serve the community, and we are especially looking forward to this next chapter as we welcome customers to experience Jet Aviation Miami-Opa Locka through a new lens.

How have operations been progressing and what milestones have been most meaningful so far?

The most meaningful milestone so far has been the opening of our new FBO! On November 8, 2025, we opened initial operations, establishing immediate, full-service capabilities. Today, the facility offers a brand-new 8,500 square-foot, LEED-certified terminal, alongside 40,000 square feet of new hangarage with 30-foot doors for aircraft parking. The FBO also features a 540,000 square-foot ramp able to accommodate larger-cabin, ultra-long range business jets, two taxiway connections into the airport system, fueling with Jet-A, 100LL and Sustainable Aviation Fuel, and drive-on access to the ramp via a private entrance.

Currently, our focus is on safety, service and operational excellence, while building trust and reliability with our customers. Our focus also continues to be on our operations; delivering a seamless, personalized experience from touchdown to take-off.

Can you tell us about the team and the culture you are building?

We currently have over 15 team members on-site. Our team is made up of passionate, skilled individuals who share a strong commitment to service excellence. Over the last few months, we have built a culture centered around collaboration, respect, and continuous improvement. Open communication and mutual support are at the core of our daily operations. We have also established culture principles around ‘one team,’ which we reinforce daily. Our goal is for customers to feel that culture the moment they walk through our doors.

Looking ahead, how will the experience continue to evolve here in Miami?

With the opening of the new facility, we now offer our customers to experience the 8,500 square-foot LEED-certified FBO building with a private entrance, dedicated office spaces, and 40,000 square feet of hangar space available for nightly transient parking; customers and crew can expect an expanded range of services, enhanced operational capabilities, and access to state-of-the-art amenities during their visits.

The new facility offers greater comfort, efficiency, and convenience. More importantly, it allows us to deliver the full Jet Aviation experience under a world-class FBO environment.

Looking ahead, I am most excited about establishing Jet Aviation Miami-Opa Locka as a premier destination for our customers in the area. The future is bright, and we are all proud to be part of this journey.

What do you love about Miami?

What I love most about Miami is its diverse culture. You can experience so much without ever leaving the city, especially when it comes to food. There is an incredible energy here, with endless activities both during the day and at night. Miami truly feels like a melting pot unlike any other, where people are open, connected, and eager to engage with one another.
