How long have you worked for Jet Aviation?

I joined Jet Aviation in 2002. Before, I was a mechanic at Zurich Airport for 14 years.

How did you come to Jet Aviation?  

I was looking for a new challenge. A friend of mine informed me that Jet Aviation was looking for a replacement for the fueling manager and here we are.  

I discovered how much I enjoyed working and being around aircraft in Zurich. I had already been at Zurich Airport for 14 years at that point and I had the “airport fever.” I wanted to stay here. So, I went for it.

I knew all about fueling from my time at Swissair because it was part of our job. But it was a new experience to be responsible for staff and equipment, quality etc. Previously I was focused on the aircraft, not the staff. It was also a learning curve moving to business aircraft.  

Please briefly describe your job  

I ensure safe and on-time delivery of fuel daily to all of our customers’ aircraft. We have an average of 170 uplifts and 1.6 million liters of fuel per day. My main tasks are organizing staff and equipment, then ensuring quality across all tasks.

We provide fuel for commercial carriers, and on the general aviation side many customers are handled through our FBO. We also provide fuel for other FBO providers’ customers.  

There’s always something new to deal with. There’s a lot going on. Maybe once every week or two we will deal with something we have never seen before.  

What one word would describe how you approach your job?  

Focused. We focus on the target and on customer satisfaction. Our customers mainly want on-time delivery. and we get good feedback from the crews about that.

What does a typical day look like for you?  

There is actually quite a large amount of admin. Closing of the previous day’s uplifts and supervising daily activities to ensure enough staff and equipment are available.

What do you enjoy most about your job?  

The daily challenges to satisfy customer needs. This leads to team satisfaction. When the customer is satisfied, the whole team feels it. And that makes me happy.  

We have to work together. We have great team spirit. Most of the guys have been working here for as long or longer than me. They’re all very experienced guys. And we have the younger team members now extending our portfolio of services.

It’s teamwork that makes me love my job. My team has mostly been here since the beginning. They keep me here. I started at Zurich Airport in June 1988, so I’m injected with the airport fever.

What do you enjoy about working for Jet Aviation?  

I have the freedom to express myself to the maximum. And the family spirit that is still in the company.  

If you could describe working at Jet Aviation in three words, what would they be?  

Challenging, high-quality work, and on-time delivery. The requirement for the staff is to deliver a high level of fuel on time, despite any challenges that arrive. 

How would you describe your role in five words or less?

Customer-oriented, straight-forward, focused, team-oriented.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself outside of work

My family comes first. I’m enjoying life as a grandfather. During the winter we go skiing.  

I also enjoy driving my classic car, an Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto 1969. This year my wife and I took part in the ‘Passione Engadina’ classic car event, and this was an unforgettable experience. Like here at Jet Aviation, there was a family spirit. That’s what I’m looking for at the end.

I bought the car with my father and built it from scratch. It means a lot to me – especially since he passed away. When I first met my wife, I had the car with me. When we exchanged numbers, I wrote her number on the tank, so I would not lose it. Today, it’s still part of my life – and my family.

That sense of connection – between people, work and passion – is the thread that runs through everything I do. It always comes back to people, passion and pride in what you build together.
