Jet Aviation Dusseldorf Celebrates 20 Years of Service, Teamwork and Customer Care

When Jet Aviation Dusseldorf opened its current FBO facility in 2006, Germany was welcoming football fans from around the globe for an unforgettable summer of sport. Twenty years later, as the game once again takes center stage, the team in Dusseldorf is marking its own milestone: two decades of supporting customers, crews and aircraft at one of Germany’s key business aviation gateways.

Located at Dusseldorf Airport, Jet Aviation’s Dusseldorf FBO welcomes customers travelling to and from North Rhine-Westphalia, the wider Rhine-Ruhr region, neighboring Netherlands and beyond. Today, the team provides aircraft handling, fueling, parking and customer services, combining Jet Aviation’s global standards with the local knowledge and long-standing relationships that define the site.

For Mark Voss, general manager Jet Aviation Dusseldorf, the story goes back well beyond the anniversary itself. He has been with Jet Aviation for more than 30 years, starting as an aircraft mechanic before moving into handling, customer service and site leadership.

“I started as a mechanic, and over the years I have worked across many parts of the operation,” says Voss.

“What I have always enjoyed most is the mix of technique and people: working with employees, crews, passengers and customers. Every day is different, but the customer is always at the center of what we do.”

That combination of operational expertise and personal service is at the heart of the Dusseldorf experience. Whether a customer is arriving for a business meeting, connecting to the wider region, travelling for a special event or relying on the team for a more time-sensitive journey, the focus is the same: providing a calm, trusted and seamless experience on the ground.

On the ramp, no two days look the same. For Leon Irsen, supervisor line and ramp services, that variety is part of what makes the work meaningful.

“It is never the same here, and every day is a bit different,” he says. “There are always surprises you did not expect, and that is what I really like about the job.”

Over the years, the Dusseldorf team has supported a wide range of movements, from private and business aviation traffic to major sporting events, visiting teams, medical flights and special missions. During busier periods, colleagues from across the Jet Aviation network have also supported the local team, reflecting the strength of the company’s connected FBO operations.

“We had an incredible amount of traffic,” says Irsen, recalling one major football event in Germany.

“It was a busy period, but the team worked closely together to keep everything moving smoothly. It was a great example of teamwork across our network.”

For customers and crews, that teamwork is often felt in small details: a smooth arrival, a familiar welcome, a coordinated turnaround or a calm response when plans change. Behind each movement is a team working closely across the front desk, ramp, operations and partner services to make the experience feel effortless.

Inside the FBO, the front desk team plays a central role in that experience. For Simone Lamers, front desk supervisor, who has been part of the Dusseldorf story for 20 years, the priority is simple: making people feel welcome and looked after.

“It is important to make everybody feel comfortable and welcomed,” she says. “Some passengers are here every week, and some are new and have not seen it before. Everyone is welcome here.”

That welcome is supported by calm coordination and practical problem-solving. The team may be greeting passengers one moment, coordinating transport the next, or supporting colleagues across the wider operation. Alongside business travel, private flights and event traffic, the FBO also supports urgent and sensitive movements, including medical and ambulance flights.

For the team, those moments are a reminder that business aviation is not only about where people are going, but why they need to get there.

“What people might not always see is the care behind every movement,” says Lamers. “Every passenger has a different journey, and our role is to make sure they feel welcome and looked after.”

That sense of care has helped build long-standing relationships with customers and crews over many years. Some have known the Dusseldorf team for decades. For Voss, that familiarity is one of the location’s greatest strengths.

“What matters is trust. When customers and crews arrive and see a familiar face, they know they are in good hands. That trust is built over time, through experience, service and relationships.”

As Jet Aviation Dusseldorf celebrates 20 years in its current FBO facility, the milestone reflects more than a building or an operation. It is a celebration of the people who have shaped the location, the customers and crews who continue to place their trust in the team, and the partnerships that support safe, seamless and personal service every day.

Today, Jet Aviation Dusseldorf continues to support customers and crews with FBO and aircraft services at Dusseldorf Airport, combining local knowledge, long-standing relationships and Jet Aviation’s global standards to enable global flight, with passion.
