Dave Paddock speaks with Brigadier General McGee, original member of the Tuskegee Airmen

At a recent event commemorating Veteran's day at Jet Aviation Dulles, Dave Paddock had the honor of speaking with Brigadier General McGee.

General McGee was a member of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African American military aviators in the U.S. that served the Army Air Corps (AAC), a precursor of the U.S. Air Force, at a time of racial segregation. Trained at the Tuskegee Army Air Field in Alabama, the Tuskegee Airmen flew more than 15,000 sorties (i.e. individual combat missions) in Europe and North Africa during World War II.

During the Zoom interview, McGee spoke of his love for Aviation, how he lived through a time of racial intolerance, and his views on prospective opportunities for the next generation. Click here to watch the interview with Brigadier General McGee and learn what valuable lessons he learned as a Tuskagee Airman that still resonate. We release it today, December 7, 2020, to mark the General's 101st birthday.

We invite you to join us in thanking McGee for sharing his experience with us, while extending him warm wishes for a very Happy Birthday here. You are an inspiration Mr. McGee!

This interview also serves as the launch of our Outside In series, which is based on the premise of inviting friends and partners of aviation from outside the company to share their stories on matters of importance to us.

Jet Aviation Dulles cooperated with the Los Angeles Metro in hosting B.G. McGee as the featured speaker for their virtual event commemorating Veteran's day last month. The FBO had staged a 1941 Boeing PT-17 Stearman in their hangar in support of the event.
