It all started with Walter Teter in 1917, when he purchased the New Jersey property where Teterboro Airport stands today. He gave the town and the airport its name, and since that time, legendary aviators such as Charles Lindbergh, Amelia Earhart, Admiral Richard E. Byrd, Wally Schirra and many others have contributed to its rich history. Teterboro is the oldest operating airport in the New York & New Jersey Metropolitan Area and is today one of the busiest corporate and private airports in the world. Only 12 miles from midtown Manhattan, the airport is also the most convenient gateway for passengers and crew heading to New York City, from either domestic or international locations.
