Known as one of the most famous World War II Battle of Britain Fighter Stations, Biggin Hill was civilianized in 1958 and opened to business aviation in the mid-1990s. Because of its advantages over other commercial airports in the region, including its proximity to central London, Jet Aviation established its first United Kingdom FBO and maintenance center at Biggin Hill in the spring of 2002. The London Biggin facility is perfectly linked to the Swiss-based company's global network and allows Jet Aviation to provide better services to existing and new UK-based customers and to transit traffic. With its 1,800 meter (5,900 ft) runway, the airport can accommodate aircraft up to the size of a Boeing Business Jets or A319 Corporate Jet. Biggin Hill requires no runway slots, enabling operators to fly in or out when they want, even during peak hours and weekends with weekday operating hours of 07:30 - 21:00.
