Jet Aviation Basel was founded in 1967 and operates in eight large hangars. It has a total of 31,808 sq.m. (353,425 sq. ft.) hangar area and 28,514 sq.m (316,831 sq.ft.) of workshops, storage and offices, together with 20,000 sq.m. (215,280 sq. ft.) of parking area. Jet Aviation Basel can accommodate aircraft up to the size of Boeing 747-400, Airbus A340, and McDonnell Douglas MD-11. Its main business is to provide maintenance, repair and alterations on business jets and corporate aircraft. Jet Aviation Basel is rated as a Jet Aircraft repair station by the FAA (Repair Station #QV1Y440K) and the EASA part 145 (#CH 145.0232) (this includes 27 European Airworthiness Approvals, such as Austrian FOCA, Belgium CAAd, French GSAC, German LBA, Italian RAI, Netherlands RLD, Swiss FOCA and UK CAA), as well as by Abu Dhabi, Bahamas, Bahrain, Bermuda CAA, Canada, Cayman CAA, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mauritius, Nigeria, Oman DGCA, and Saudi Arabia PCA. The company also holds an EASA Design Organisation Approval (EASA.21J.356) and EASA Production Organisation Approval (CH.21G.0011) thus providing a full design, production and maintenance solution. Furthermore, it is an approved Service Center for the Airbus ACJ, Boeing BBJ, Gulfstream, Canadair Challenger, Learjet, Dassault Falcon series as well as the Hawker series. The facility is listed in the Contract Maintenance Service Manual of Boeing and is part of Jet Aviation's service center agreement with Airbus which links the Basel facility to the Airbus customer service organization. In the field of avionics, Jet Aviation is a dealer and Service Center for many suppliers and its engine shop has ratings for major work on all the large manufacturers.
